Mirrors

Mirrors is one of the few songs that tided me over many times since the start of the year. It has a tinge of sadness to it, but it also evokes courage (in my opinion). One of the toughest assignments I did in this semester was inspired by this song (or rather, the music video). I'm happy to share with you that against all odds, my assignment scored the highest!

Sixty, and then some

Finished my final paper this morning and the 46 days of term break begin at long last. The first thing I did after exams was to visit a Borders bookstore to spend the sixty ringgit gift vouchers (ten ringgit gotten from a lucky draw last year and fifty ringgit won from being one of the best speakers of our category in last semester's colloquium). I didn't want to buy magazines or stationery, so I limited myself to books. It wasn't easy to choose books there at the store. New stocks were slow to come in and the existing ones were all over the place. By sheer luck, I found the paperback edition of Citadel, which has been on my "watch list" since January. Overjoyed I was. To make up the amount, I searched for another book (also fiction, to compensate for reading so much bone-dry factual data for psychology). Somehow Milan Kundera's works came into my view. Naturally I sought out The Unbearable Lightness of Being (see what kind of books my teachers exposed me to?). I exceeded the sixty, but for a good reason, I think. Gonna immerse myself in fiction to take my mind off studies.
